How much do Roblox games make? The maths, explained

How Roblox game earnings work: earned Robux, DevEx rates, why player count alone doesn't tell you revenue, and how to estimate your own.

"How much does a Roblox game make?" has no single answer, and anyone who gives you an exact figure for someone else's game is guessing. What we can do is show you how the money flows, which numbers drive it, and how to work out what your own game might earn.

How a Roblox game earns

Games earn earned Robux from a few sources:

  • Passes: one-off purchases such as VIP or a double-coins pass.
  • Developer products: things players can buy again, such as currency packs or revives.
  • Subscriptions and private servers.
  • Marketplace items sold in your game.
  • Engagement-based payouts from Premium players spending time in your game.

Those earned Robux can then be cashed out for real money through the Developer Exchange (DevEx).

Turning Robux into dollars

At the current DevEx rate, Roblox pays $0.0038 per earned Robux. You need at least 30,000 earned Robux to cash out, which is about $114. Robux earned before 5 September 2025 cash out first at the old rate of $0.0035, and some purchases by age-verified US adults in eligible games earn $0.0054 per Robux. Our DevEx calculator does the conversion for you, and Roblox's Developer Exchange page has the full rules.

So 1,000,000 earned Robux works out at about $3,800 before tax.

Why player count isn't revenue

Two games with the same number of players can earn very different amounts. Revenue depends on:

  • How many players spend at all. In most free-to-play games, a small minority of players makes purchases.
  • How much each spender spends, which depends on what there is to buy and whether it feels worth it.
  • How long players stay. A player who returns for a month has many more chances to spend than one who leaves after a day.
  • Who your players are. Spending varies by age group, region and device.

That's why we never present revenue for other games as fact. BloxIQ Pro shows a modelled range for tracked games, built from public player counts and clearly labelled as an estimate, not a measurement.

A simple way to estimate your own

You can sketch a rough monthly figure from your own Creator Analytics:

  1. Take your monthly active users.
  2. Multiply by your paying user rate (players who bought anything that month).
  3. Multiply by your average Robux per paying user.
  4. Multiply by $0.0038 to convert to dollars.

For example, a game with 50,000 monthly players, 2% of whom spend an average of 400 Robux, earns about 400,000 Robux a month, which is about $1,520. Those inputs are made up for the example; use your own.

The useful part isn't the total. It's seeing which input you can move. Doubling the share of players who buy anything usually matters more than raising prices.

How to earn more without losing players

  • Sell things that make play more fun, like cosmetics, convenience and extra content, rather than power that ruins it for others.
  • Price a cheap first purchase. Getting a player to buy once matters more than the first price.
  • Keep players longer. Retention is the multiplier on everything else, and Roblox's recommendation system rewards it too. See how the Roblox algorithm recommends games.
  • Be transparent about odds and value, especially with younger players. Our guide to monetising without hurting retention goes deeper.

The short answer

Most Roblox games earn little or nothing, and a few earn a great deal. The ones in between are usually not the biggest, but the ones that keep their players for weeks and give them something worth buying.
